Hanshi Lawrence Mark Vellucci

Hanshi Lawrence Mark Vellucci is an author and martial arts instructor with 45 years’ experience, years and is one of the very few remaining instructors with a direct lineage in the Matsumura Shorin Ryu and Hakutsuru White Crane systems. He has owned and operated seven martial arts schools and is currently the President of the Kobukan Karate Federation: with over 700 members in 39 countries throughout the world. Hanshi also lived and trained in Okinawa and the Far East for 10 years. As such, Hanshi’s knowledge and experience enables him to offer in-depth private lessons online and in person, to those interested in learning the forms and practical fighting applications of these two ancient arts.

Hanshi’s excels at teaching the relevant combat applications of these fighting styles in modern self-defense scenarios. He implements training in street legal weapons as part of the system and has taught over 10,000 students during his long career as a professional martial arts instructor. Hanshi Vellucci currently holds the rank of Hanshi, 8th degree Black Belt in Matsumura Shorin - Ryu Karate and Okinawan Hakutsuru White Crane Karate. He has a master’s degree in Ancient and Classical History and is a former Marine Corps officer, as well as significant experience in law enforcement and private security. He has authored eleven books, including Nintai: Philosophical Lessons in Okinawan Karate, and his most recent work Stoic Taoism: Modern Lessons in Two Ancient Philosophies. Hanshi also is very active in traveling and teaching martial arts and self-defense seminars in the United States and Europe.

He has also produced over 20 martial art videos including home study courses for beginners and advanced students. He and his wife Kasi currently reside in Van Buren, Arkansas.
